Dear Reader, The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our health systems and on our economies continues to affect our decisions and actions in everyday life. At the same time, it’s also framing our collective decisions – these challenging times are highlighting the importance of strong partnerships to move forward. In this context, BMZ is scaling up its digital networks to strengthen European and international partnerships, in particular with Africa. At the initiative of the German EU Council Presidency, the EU has made Digital4Development (D4D) a key priority. While focusing on building partnerships between European, African and global partners, the mapping of rapid COVID-19 response projects is also being prioritized. Additionally, we are focusing on strengthening local innovation: Together with the Make-IT Alliance, we announced new partnerships to support African and Asian innovators. Only through partnerships we can drive innovation and transformation to jointly overcome this exceptional challenge. I strongly believe we are on the right track and invite you to find out more below. Best wishes and stay safe, Günter Nooke German Chancellor's Personal Representative for Africa in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) |
